Kane tops forwards rankings beyond goals in 2015/16

Spurs forward tried most shots but Marcus Rashford most clinical of the season.

Harry Kane tried the most shots and was among the most accurate shooters

Harry Kane pipped Jamie Vardy and Sergio Aguero to the Barclays Golden Boot, but beyond the goals premierleague.com looks more closely at who were the 2015/16 season's top forwards.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker attempted more shots than any player in 2015/16. Kane's 158 shots was well ahead of Sergio Aguero (119), who was closely followed by Romelu Lukaku (118), Jamie Vardy (115) and Odion Ighalo (109).

Kane’s willingness to shoot did not affect his range. Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe was the only forward with at least 50 shots to finish the campaign with a better shooting accuracy.

Despite winning the Barclays Golden Boot, Kane was not the most clinical forward in the 2015/16 Barclays Premier League.

That accolade belonged to Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, who had an imperious 55.6% conversion rate in his first season in the competition.

Twenty-three of Kane’s 25 goals came from inside the penalty area, a joint-league high with Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy.
The Spurs striker was not the most prolific from outside the area, with four BPL forwards scoring more from distance. Aguero leads the way with five strikes from outside the area.

It was an Arsenal player who tops the charts for headed goals. Olivier Giroud rose above his peers to score an unmatchable seven times with his head.

Aguero, Mame Biram Diouf, Shane Long, Andy Carroll and Graziano Pelle were joint-second with five headed goals.

Giroud was also one of 25 forwards to net a brace in 2015/16, with Kane managing the feat a league-high six times.
Ten forwards had with a hat-trick, although Sergio Aguero was the only one to claim the match ball more than once.

Kane could have had more than 30 goals in the season just gone had his shots that hit the woodwork gone in.
Along with Lukaku, Kane struck the frame of the goal on seven occasions without the ball going in. Vardy and Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez were next with six and five hots of the woodwork respectively.

Sanchez was also the most creative forward in the 2015/16 Barclays Premier League.

The Chilean carved out 62 goalscoring opportunities, seven more than Watford's Troy Deeney and 11 clear of Romelu Lukaku.
Of the 62 chances he created, Sanchez saw only four converted and 10 forwards provided more assists than him.
Everton's Gerard Deulofeu (eight) led the way ahead of Deeney and Roberto Firmino's seven apiece.
