Arsenal transfer news: Jamie Vardy '80%' sure he will snub Gunners to stay at Leicester City
Jamie Vardy has not yet decided if he will join Arsenal after they triggered his release clause
Vardy is “80 per cent” sure that he will reject a move to Arsenal in favour of staying with Premier League champions Leicester City, it is being reported.
Arsenal activated Vardy’s release clause of £20m to open negotiations with the England striker and his representatives, but they failed to get a deal over the line before Vardy flew to France for the Euro 2016 Championship.
Vardy has since put off making a decision until after the tournament in order to focus on the task at hand of trying to force his way into the first-team, with Roy Hodgson set to leave him on the substitutes’ bench for the opening match against Russia.
With Arsenal fearing that his delay in making a decision could lead to a response they do not want to hear, the Evening Standard reports that Vardy is indeed leaning towards staying at the King Power Stadium.
It’s claimed that the 29-year-old has discussed his future with several members of the England squad, with sources close to the Three Lions camp claiming he is “80 per cent” certain that he will remain with the Foxes.
Arsenal have offered Vardy a three-year contract worth £120,000-a-week along with the option of a fourth season at the Emirates, although Leicester attempted to counter the offer by giving Vardy the option of signing his second deal in the space of four months to remain with the Premier League champions.
