'New life begins at Arsenal': Midfielder confirms he's joined on five-year deal

Kelechi Nwakali has confirmed he’s agreed to a five-year deal at Arsenal

The 18-year-old midfielder first traveled to London back in January to sign a contract alongside Gunners legend Nwankwo Kanu.

A move to the Emirates, though, could not be finalised until he turned 18 on June 5 due to Fifa regulations.

As well as changing his Twitter bio to, ‘Footballer for Arsenal FC and Nigeria U20 Nike Athlete’, Nwakali confirmed that a deal had been wrapped up in an interview.

‘I just came back from London, I have signed a five-year contract with Arsenal,’ Nwakali told All Nigeria Soccer.

The young Nigerian star also tweeted the message, ‘New Life Begins @Arsenal.’
The north London outfit beat the likes of Manchester City and Bayern Munich to the teenager’s signature.

It’s understood Nwakali will join up with the Arsenal Under-21 side ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.
