Fiorentina want Sunderland's Giaccherini but this is his response
One man not even thinking about a transfer, or so his agent says, is Sunderland’s Emanuele Giaccherini.Yes he still plays for Sunderland but spent last season out on loan at Bologna.
And he impressed this week scoring Italy’s first goal against Belgium in their Group F opener, and has caught the eye of fellow Serie A side Fiorentina.
But the 31-year-old midfielder’s agent says he’s just concetnrating on playing for Italy at the moment/taking it one game at at time etc...
“There is enormous satisfaction for the goal,” he told Radio Blu. “We’re so happy for him, as he returned to Italy after a difficult season and reclaimed a place in the national team.
“The possibility of returning among the Azzurri was an important factor in his decision to move to Bologna. Emanuele is extremely fond of the Azzurri shirt.
“As for the market, there was activity around Giaccherini before the beginning of the Euros. He has only year of contract with Sunderland, so his price could be under €2m.”
“It’s not a novelty that [Pantaleo] Corvino [Fiorentina’s director of football] holds Giaccherini in great esteem, but there are no news.
“Emanuele would be happy to come to Fiorentina, but right now he’s only thinking about the Euros and he won’t be taking any decisions on the short term.”

Man United to make Varane enquiry
Manchester United will explore the chances of signing Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane this summer. The Red Devils have splashed £25m on Eric Bailly from Villarreal but there are doubts over whether he is ready to be a first-team regular. Varane has been linked with United in the past and the Red Devils will try and tempt him to Old Trafford, reports Manchester Evening News.
Everton’s John Stones and Juventus’ Leonardo Bonucci have also been identified as possible partners for Chris Smalling at the heart of the defence. Interest in Aymeric Laporte would appear to be dead in the water after the Frenchman signed a new four-year contract at Athletic Bilbao this week.
United will hope to exploit doubt in Varane’s mind about his future at Real Madrid.
The 23-year-old had fallen behind Pepe in the pecking order at the Bernabeu before a hamstring injury ruled him out of Euro 2016.
Reports in Marca, the Spanish newspaper with close ties to Real Madrid, suggest coach Zinedine Zidane is keen to tie down his compatriot with a new long-term contract.
But they admit Varane could be convinced to move to Old Trafford to work with his former boss Mourinho with the promise of regular first-team football.
The former Lens defender started just 14 of Real’s 34 games between December and May last season.
