Mignolet on Karius' arrival Simon Mignolet claims Loris Karius’ arrival at Liverpool will make him better. Mignolet is undaunted by the stiff competition from Karius following the Germany Under-21 goalkeeper’s £4.7million signing from Mainz. Boss Jurgen Klopp wants Karius to compete with Mignolet for the No 1 spot and the Belgium international says he is ready for the fight. “It’s something positive, it can only push you on and can only make you better,” said Mignolet. “Competition for places you will always have at the highest level. “For every place and every position there are enough people who can do the job when needed and that’s what you need to have a good team. Mignolet is also unconcerned by Liverpool’s tough start to the 2016-17 campaign and they must play Arsenal, Leicester, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United in their first eight games. “I saw it briefly this morning,” he said. “It’s the same as last year, so looking forward to that. But fir...

And he impressed this week scoring Italy’s first goal against Belgium in their Group F opener, and has caught the eye of fellow Serie A side Fiorentina. But the 31-year-old midfielder’s agent says he’s just concetnrating on playing for Italy at the moment/taking it one game at at time etc... “There is enormous satisfaction for the goal,” he told Radio Blu. “We’re so happy for him, as he returned to Italy after a difficult season and reclaimed a place in the national team...

Arsenal FC target Henrikh MKhitarya prefers move to Manchester United

Image
Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Dortmund attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan, with the wantaway Armenian reportedly favouring a move to Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United. Mkhitaryan’s agent Mino Raiola is quoted by German media outlet Sport1 (via HITC Sport) as saying: “Man United is a unique opportunity. Micki wants to go there.” The news will come as music to Mourinho’s ears, with the Portuguese set to rebuild a Manchester United squad lacking in experience and quality in most areas of the pitch. Another factor that is working in the favour of Manchester United is the fact that Mino Raiola, the agent of Mkhitaryan, is also the agent of Zlatan Ibrahimovic. With the reportedly agreeing a move to the Red Devils, Man United and Ed Woodward should feel confident to close yet another deal with the superagent. The Armenian international was first linked with a move to Arsenal, with the Sun claiming that the G...

Sanchez grabbed his second goal with a brilliant accurate header to make it 4-2, sealing the holders’ place in the last-eight. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be delighted with the form of his star forward, but will also be mindful of his physical condition upon his return to the Emirates Stadium this summer. Sanchez was inconsistent for Arsenal in 2015/16, but he’s been bang in form for his country. Chile boast a strong squad of talent, with the likes of Sanchez, Vargas and Arturo ...

UEFA's control, ethics and disciplinary body met in Paris to consider the case and imposed the suspended disqualification and a €150,000 financial penalty. However, any further incidents of crowd disturbance inside grounds at Russia's matches during the European Championships will see the suspension lifted and the country thrown out of Euro 2016. The sanctions against the RFU were outlined in a statement: "A suspended disqualification of the Russian national team from UEFA EURO 2016 for the crowd disturbances. The highly-rated youngster has long been linked with a move to City, as well as other Premier League clubs, and it looks as though he could cost as much as £40million. City today confirmed the signing of Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund, and Pep Guardiola could make Sane his second raid on the Bundesliga as he prepares to leave German champions Bayern Munich before taking over at the Etihad Stadium. Sane’s performances have seen him become regarded as one of the top young attacking players in Europe, and City may have to move fast for him in case a strong Euro 2016 sees his £40m price tag rise even higher.

Image

Though his departure is likely to depend on the arrival of another centre-back, Mertesacker’s opened the door to a return to former club Hannover. ‘It might be interesting for me to give something back to Hannover 96 because that was where it all began [for me],’ said Mertesacker.

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez admits he’s already tired at Copa America

Image

The 27-year-old played as Chile lost 2-1 to Argentina in their first group game, meaning they face an uphill battle to qualify for the knockout phase. With Gunners fans already worried about the winger’s fitness given his inability to ever stop playing football, this won’t be welcome news. ‘I’m tired,’ said the former Barcelona star. ‘I could not sleep after the match with Argentina. It was demanding. ‘I hope to recover and get my enthusiasm back in the game against Bolivia. ‘I hate to lose, even to Argentina, who are a world power. I think about the game [all night]. I only slept for about four hours.’ With the North Londoners looking to improve on their second-placed Premier League finish next season, supporters will have to hope that Sanchez at least gets a little rest before the new campaign begins.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is not going anywhere

Image
Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not be flying to Manchester - or anywhere else - to sort his future while Sweden are still in the European Championships. That’s the declaration from Sweden boss Erik Hamren, with regards his captain’s future. Ibrahimovic is widely believed to be bound for Old Trafford, having left PSG this summer. And while he’s free to do as he pleases - within reason - during his leisure time, flying away from camp to sort out his future is not acceptable. "Players have their leisure time on the schedule - there’s nothing I can control. But it would not be okay for Zlatan to fly to Manchester. I’m 100 percent sure it will not affect Zlatan. He has been in the business a long time. I understand there is a lot of Zlatan media. Not only in Sweden. I understand that. But with us, it is nothing. He handles it perfectly. The players are familiar with it. You can be calm - there is nothing that has affected us negatively in the group. Absolutely nothing." ...

And he’s been linked with a move to join Pep Guardiola, with fees ranging from £55million-£90million mooted. But BVB will reportedly say NO to anything for Aubameyang, who has four years left on his deal. They’ve already lost Mats Hummels and Ilkay Gundogan this summer, and look likely to sell Henrikh Mkhitaryan too - although they say they will force him to see out the final year of his deal. And while they’ve signed some excellent young players already, losing Aubameyang would be a major blow.

Wenger is currently trying to convince Vardy to Arsenal after the Gunners activated the £20m release clause in his Leicester City contract, as  Goal  confirmed earlier this month. "I don't think that Vardy will be a star...
